Begin again, again
The end always connects to a new beginning, whether or not we are ready for it.
At the end of 2015, I first set sail on a solo discovery mission to understand how the apparel industry works, how my mind works, and frankly to figure out why I am here. A single 26-year-old recently "let go" from her career and embarking on a fresh start where everything was possible. New ideas, new friends, new jobs, new locations. New everything – except things. #NoNewStuff was my firm commitment, my cheeky new year's resolution. That simple statement would connect me to people and projects beyond comprehension at the time.
It's nearing the end of 2021 now and while the locations have changed again and again, the direction and the drive remain the same. This project and small business morphed into various shapes in those precious six years. A fashion community meetup, a pop-up workshop series, an after-school design thinking program in rural Montana, a one-woman sew and dye studio. Hundreds of items found new homes, thousands of stitches mended and modified to make a statement. We are all we need to get by.
I'll share more of the stories that brought us here, now, and keep sharing whatever unfolds next with the people we meet along the way. Chapter II of this story begins and I'm committed all in.
