Sustainable Fashion Circle NYC
Sustainable Fashion Circle of NYC
2017-2020
Manhattan and Brooklyn, New York
We co-founded the Sustainable Fashion Circle in 2017, with a vibrant array of members working on circularity, upcycling, traceability, new community-driven retail ventures, et al.
SFC became New York’s largest and most active group of citizens committed to a sustainable future for fashion and style.
We hosted and co-hosted 50+ Meetups across the boroughs of NYC; monthly events exploring thought-based and hands-on activities: pitch nights, sashiko mending, pop-up maker markets, socials. Each meetup’s simple goals were to teach and to connect: Did you learn something new? Did you meet someone new?
SFC grew to 400+ Member Advocates in under two years. Members are students, entrepreneurs, designers, local activists, community organizers, fashionphiles.
When Covid-19 lockdowns first began in March 2020, SFC shifted to host virtual panels and support talks. After much deliberation, we decided to pause our events for now and plan for a stronger community structure to come in the future.
